I’d be really interested in doing something to encourage more wildlife on the estate.

See this link to see what I have in mind and that other people on other estates have done successfully… http://www.wildlondon.org.uk/Projects/CockneySparrowProject/About/tabid/537/language/en-GB/Default.aspx

I’ve mentioned to Peter before my idea of planting a native hedge all along the metal edging on Battersea Bridge rd and the benefits that would have.
Now that some people have decided they want to have food plant beds, if we grew a hedge there, once it had started to become established, it would enable a series of new small beds to be planted along the front without undesirable ‘scrumping’ from drunken revellers on a saturday night.

Other advantages would be that it might help to deaden traffic noise from the main road and might stop rubbish blowing across the lawns. It would also make the lawns a bit private so that residents could sunbathe/play/picnic out there in good weather.

Looking at the council guidelines , something like this would fall well within them and would mean we get extra funding to help us with the planting costs.
