Members of the Ethelburga Gardening Club took advantage of today’s beautiful weather and set to work in the rose beds along Battersea Bridge Road. They all enjoyed the experience enormously and were greatly encouraged by the number of passers-by who said they too would like to join in in  future.

Others said they would love to take care of the bit of green outside their blocks once we were able to give them a planting plan. One kind lady, who does not even live on the Estate, was so impressed by this collective effort that she donated £10.00 – which will be used to buy some fertilizer for the roses. Thank you, Lynne.

While working in this area it was so sad to be reminded that somebody had mindlessly vandalised all the daffodils along the length of Battersea Bridge Road by cutting off every single flower. What motivates a person to be that destructive and take away something that only hours earlier was giving great pleasure to so many people?
